3DContentBlog: What is your background and how did you come into the 3D space?
WildEarth.TV: We have been broadcasting live safaris on the Internet for about 4 years. Each day we have a morning and an evening game drive each lasting about 3 hours. Just a few weeks ago our live safaris won the ROSCAR award. Last year we started with 3D safaris and have since broadcasted and produced almost one thousand hours in stereoscopic 3D.
3DContentBlog: Which title(s) have you produced?
WildEarth.TV: Well, we are not in the business of producing regular TV titles. Our approach is live immersive experiences. Viewers can interact with our presenters in real-time. However, we are also editing our vast archive to postproduced regular documentaries and are selling those worldwide to VOD platforms or 3D channels.
What 3D projects are you working on?
We are currently working with partners to produce a few other wildlife related premium films that are 60-90 minutes long. At the moment we are finalizing the scripting and talking to potential co-production partners. Most notably, we are building our underwater operation. Imagine live dives with sharks every day! Our first technical tests have been very successful with a many sharks at close proximity.
What type of sales/deals are you looking for?
First, we are putting our efforts mostly into our live immersion model. This means that we like to place our 24/7 channel on pay TV platforms as a first priority. We also offer our live broadcasts (3 or 6 hours safaris per day, 2 hours dives per day) to large 3D broadcasters. Our value proposition is: a lot of fresh 3D content every day at relatively little cost. Finally, we are also looking for VOD deals with reasonable minimum guarantees.
