Amy and I have been talking about this project for almost two years. Check it out and help support the Kickstarter campaign for the BMX film 1 Way Up in 3D http://kck.st/12pTyjm
The film celebrates BMX, the riders, and their coaches and proves the power of sports, 1 Way Up in 3D is the story of Tre and Quillan, two teen boys on the road to the BMX World Championships. They hope to escape one of the toughest gang neighborhoods in London with the only thing they have – a bike. Defying the stereotypes of “black boys in hoods,” they race to the top of the BMX ranks and off the streets.
The film’s trailer attracted the attention of non-profit company Shine Global www.shineglobal.org in New York who have stepped in to help me on this journey. They won the Oscar this year for best short documentary and have a mission to shine a light on children over the world and their profits go back to helping out the children in the films they make.
Now we just need to raise final post production money so that 1 Way Up can be seen on a cinema screen and on TV and that’s where I urgently need your help. We have been working with large sports charities and local charities across South London to prepare an outreach program and there are thousands of kids eager to take part but we need to finish the film first as this will be the staple of the campaign and children will learn film and digital skills or sports skills in a series of workshops around the themes of the film.
Things you can do to help:
1. Share the Kickstarter link on Facebook, Twitter, Email, etc: http://kck.st/12pTyjm
2. PLEDGE – even a $10/£6.50/€7.80 pledge gets you a digital link to see the film when it’s done and there are some great rewards on offer.
3. Watch the short video all the way through (this helps us go up in the rankings!)
Thanks again for helping us make this BMX film a success and contact me if you want any more information.
